 This year's eLearning Africa, the fifth in the highly successful series of pan-African gatherings, will take place in Zambia under the patronage of the Zambian Minister of Education, the Honourable Ms Dora Siliya. From 26-28 May 2010, the continent's largest annual assembly of eLearning and education professionals from Africa and beyond will convene in the capital, Lusaka.

The UK's first women's international centre for economic development (WICED) is to launch in Liverpool. The centre will combine incubation space and gendered enterprise support with a research hub that will develop a global community in the field of women's enterprise.

 Sonja Bernhardt, Chief Executive Officer of software development house, ThoughtWare, was on the 10th of November 2009 named the winner of the Industry or Business Award handed out by The Honourable Karen Struthers, Minister for Community Services and Housing and Minister for Women Sonja received the award for 'inspiring other women who might otherwise not have considered a non-traditional career such as information and communication technology (ICT)'. When presenting Sonja's winner profile the minister emphasized:'As CEO and Director of Gold Coast-based software development house, ThoughtWare, Sonja stands out from the pack with her passion and enthusiasm for helping women and girls in ICT.

 Based on the initiative of European Commission’s DG Enterprise and Industry and as part of the EU e-skills strategy the e-Skills Awareness Raising Week 2010 will take place all around Europe in March 2010 with the goal to raise awareness of the growing demand of highly skilled ICT practitioners and users within the ICT and related sectors.The consortium responsible for coordinating the eSkills Week 2010 which is expected to bring together 300,000 participants in more than 100 activities in more than 20 participating countries is lead by DIGITALEUROPE and European Schoolnet as the core focus in of the e-Skills Week is the business and education sector.

Dr Patrice Braun, Director of the Asia-Pacific Centre for Women & Technology and a Senior Research Fellow with the Centre for Regional Innovation & Competitiveness at the University of Ballarat in Australia, has been awarded a Federal Government 2010 Endeavour Research Fellow Award ($23,500) to conduct research in Bangladesh. The Endeavour Awards are the Australian Government's internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program providing high-achieving individuals with a unique opportunity to undertake study, research or professional development.

The 1st international Millennium Youth Camp (MY Camp) will be organized 6-13 June 2010 in Helsinki, Finland for 30 talented young students, 16 to 19 years old, keen on natural sciences, mathematics and technology. They will be selected and thus invited on the grounds of their applications.
